Senior System Specialist

Location: Hartwell, GA

ECHO81 is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Systems Specialist located in the Hartwell, Georgia office. The Senior Systems Specialist will be expected to take a lead role in the maintenance and oversight of the ECHO81 rental equipment, to support clients with integration, operation, and troubleshooting – both remotely and through on-site training. They will also act as a key figure in the development of ECHO81 standardized procedures and mentoring of junior staff. This opportunity welcomes candidates with a variety of backgrounds but will require the successful candidate to possess a combination of skills across fields relating to the offshore industry; hydrographic science, geomatics, marine geophysics, and engineering. While candidates may not be experts in all, the expectation is that they can demonstrate competency through education/experience in these fields.
Foundational skills to the position include excellent communication and public speaking skills, the ability to work well in a team environment, and a high attention to detail.
Requirements:

AS/BS in Geomatics, Geophysics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Hydrographic Science, or another relevant field.

Post graduate education in above or related fields preferred, but not required.

FIG/IHO Category ‘A’ Certificate preferred, but not required.

An academic understanding of acoustic theory and principles. The ability to convey applicable theory to trainees and junior staff in a supervisorial capacity. Demonstrate these principles through instruction both in classroom and field settings.

Highly experienced with the installation, integration, acquisition, and processing of geophysical datasets in HYPACK, QPS, and SonarWiz software suites. This includes the mobilization phase of all vessel types and sizes – from installation and dimensional control survey to system calibration and validation.

5+ years professional experience installing, operating, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a minimum two (2) of the following marine survey sensors:

GNSS-Inertial Positioning Systems

Multibeam Echosounders
-
Single Beam Echosounders
-
Side Scan Sonars
-
Sub-Bottom Profilers
-
Marine Seismic Systems
-
Marine Magnetometers (Transverse Gradiometers)
-
Acoustic Subsea Positioning Systems (USBLs and/or LBLs)

Experience trailering and handling small vessels.

Availability to travel approximately one (1) week per month.

Must possess the physical ability to lift objects over 50 lbs.
